T3D CAP - 3D Trainer
T3D CAP - 3D Trainer
By Greg Covey
The T3D CAP™ is a 3D trainer model for intermediate to advance skill level pilots. The wing and fuselage are made from EPS foam to achieve the lightest weight possible. The T3D comes with a motor and prop. It uses a standard Lite Stik power system on a 2-cell LiPoly pack. All up it weighs about 5oz so it has sufficient power to hover in place.

Advanced Covering Techniques with Solite
Advanced Covering Techniques with Solite
By Martin Hunter
For those not familiar with it, Solite (aka Nelson's Litefilm) is a super lightweight (0.6 oz per sq yard) iron on plastic covering. Due to it being as light as it is, it lends itself perfectly to being used on either fragile airframes or parkflyer sized aircraft. Available in a variety of colors, Solite is also readily available from many distributors, both in North America and overseas.

Tipsy Nipper
Tipsy Nipper
By cruzomatic
The Bohemia Tipsy Nipper is a semi scale model of a famous European Sporting plane built in 1957. It was considered a combined structure plane propelled by the 30-kW engine; it total output was approximately 50 horsepower. This plane is a real eye pleaser and fun to build, but I like seeing it in the air even more. The plane goes together quick and easy. I completed it in approximately 5 to 6 evenings as I was careful and giving the glue plenty of time to cure.

GWS Spitfire
GWS Spitfire
By Albert Wahrhaftig
After a fine morning flying my new GWS ME109, I walked into our local hobby shop and - oh no!! - there sat a brand new shipment of GWS Spitfires. And with "For Advanced Pilots" written on the box - I wonder what that really means. Do I really need another GWS Warbird? No way. Do I drool over Spitfires? Does a wild boar eat truffles in the forest? Did I go ahead and buy it? Ha! You know I did. Am I glad? I sure am.

The 2003 Mid-America Fun Fly
The 2003 Mid-America Fun Fly
By Jim Young
The Annual Mid-America fun fly is actually two, one-day events sponsored by the Electric Flyers Only (EFO's) and the Ann Arbor Falcons. Started over seventeen years ago by Ken Myers and Keith Shaw it has grown into one of the must be there e-vents of the summer. While it is billed as a "contest", Ken prefers to consider it a fun fly weekend for 100 of his closest friends.

PB Fly Mini Fun Fly Aerobatic SPEED 400 ARF
PB Fly Mini Fun Fly Aerobatic SPEED 400 ARF
By cruzomatic
The PB Fly Mini is one simple aerobatic Speed 400 plane. This ARF looks great, flies very well in a confined space, and should satisfy one's need for wild aerobatics. The main wing and tail parts both come nicely pre-covered with transparent covering allowing the modeler to see its balsa construction. This plane can be built and flying in no time.

Mountain Models Tantrum
Mountain Models Tantrum
By Martin Hunter
3D flying has reached a fevered pitch lately. It seems that many planes are coming out that are either 3D intended or marked as being 3D capable but somehow fall short of the mark and fall instead into the general sport category. The Mountain Models Tantrum is not one of those. Designed for 3D from the start, the Tantrum doesn't fail to deliver.

Plettenberg Freestyle XL
Plettenberg Freestyle XL
By Greg Covey
When I received the larger FreeStyle XL motor, I now knew that I needed to select just the right model to put it in. The front mounting 25mm pattern with M3 screws is a common Speed 600 footprint. I knew that I could spin a 12x8" prop very effciently so the lightweight motor and reasonable current draw looked very intriguing.

Switchback Review
Switchback Review
By Dave Campbell
The SwitchBack 3D was released earlier by Mountain Models and has gained much notoriety for it's ease of build, rugged structure, and performance. As a casual observer to the ruckus brewing over it in the Ezone Discussion Group at the time, the pictures and praise slowly grabbed my interest. When offered the kit for review, I readily accepted and started dreaming of tearing up the pattern in our winter flying sessions at the local golf dome.

Hangover Review
Hangover Review
By Jim McPherson
In 1990 I saw an RC airplane fly for the very first time. It was a generic stick design and at the time I thought it looked rather boring. However, as soon as I saw it fly any hint of boring went away and I was hooked. It did hammer head stalls, rolling circles, hovering, and just about every other maneuver in the book. I've always wanted to have a model that flew like that first RC airplane I saw.

Southeast Electric Fun Fly SEFF 2003
Southeast Electric Fun Fly SEFF 2003
By Kirby Pople
SEFF has come and gone once again, and now I find myself already looking forward to next years event. From the moment I arrived, I was amazed by the quality of the facility, the hospitality of the people, and the organization of the event. Everything was planned out, and appeared to run very smoothly from Registration to "Happy Trails" being played at the end of the last days flying. This in part had to be due to the hard work of Jeff Myers, Mack Hodges, and the Fayette Flyers.

Chester Electric Fly-in 2003
Chester Electric Fly-in 2003
By tim hooper
Although I like to attend one or two of the large trade shows each year, I really feel that aeromodelling is far more of a participant-based hobby than a spectator event, so I anticipate the 'fly-ins' far more than the trade shows. One of the highlights of each summers calendar is the Chester Model Flying Club's annual electric bash at the Roodee Racecourse in the centre of Chester itself.

Aveox's New Line of Sensorless Motors and Controllers
Aveox's New Line of Sensorless Motors and Controllers
By Editor
Aveox, the granddaddy of brushless motors, isn't relegated to the rocking chair of electric flight. The latest round of Aveox products shows there's enough muscle to take on all comers, and emerge victorious. New sensorless motors and controllers from Aveox are smooth, powerful, light, built to last a lifetime, incredibly versatile, and perhaps best of all (for U.S. citizens) - they're made in the USA, which means repairs are relatively convenient and inexpensive.
